About Us
Burren Fine Wine & Food is situated at the bottom of Corkscrew Hill, two miles from the beautiful village of Ballyvaughan, Co. Clare in the centre of the Wild Atlantic Way.
Specialising in Summer Lunches, wine sales and private tasting, small parties for lunch or dinner, gourmet hampers and corporate gifts for all occasions.
We are committed to continuing to improve our environmental performance, minimising our environmental impact on the beautiful area in which we live. Due to our location and firm belief in the principles of ‘Leave No Trace’ we hope to embrace its ethos into our business and strive for a sustainable future for our community.
Burren Fine Wine and Food is owned by Cathleen Connole since 1999 and welcomes everyone from near and far, whatever their interest is in the region.
Nestled between the enchanted Hills of the Burren is the century old stone coach house that houses Burren Fine Wine & Food situated on the grounds of the former parochial house of Glenaragh Church about two miles past the centre of Ballyvaughan.
It is in this very place over two hundred years ago, that John Blake Dillon sought refuge before his dramatic escape to America. The house’s old chimney gable still stands testament to its past. The areas rich history, as well as its idyllic location, are not the only attractions one can enjoy and partake in.
It is within these walls every Summer Season that you can enjoy a selection of tasty lunches from the menu, including healthy salads, homemade bread, scones and a range of mouth-watering desserts or simply just soak up the tranquil atmosphere with a glass of wine or a refreshment. We always go with the mantra of A Free Cup of Tea if you Cycle to Me.
To add to this Cathleen grows or sources much of the food she serves from local farmers and traders, she is one of the founder members of Burren Ecotourism network, a group of tourism enterprises with the objective of establishing the Burren as a premier internationally-recognised sustainable tourism region.
